Suitcase
A Traveling Exhibition
19.11.2005 – 15.1.2006
The
exhibition “Suitcase” was first exhibited at New York
Public Library’s Art Collection Galleries (New York City)
on April 13, 2005. It is a travelling exhibition that involves one
hundred artists of ten different nationalities. “Suitcase”
will continue it’s “trip” in Israel, Poland, Belgium,
China, Denmark, France, Germany and Japan. In Italy the exhibition
was presented in the new contemporary art space of Palazzo Pietromarchi
in Marsciano (Perugia). It is a small city in Umbria, a region in
the middle of Italy, chosen to signify that in the art world there
are no hierarchies regarding place. The project was concived after
a cultural/research visit of the curator, Daniele Di Lodovico to
New York. The concept is to present the experiences of the completed
and future research through these works of small dimension, easily
transported and to pursue the idea of the voyage with curatorial
experiences. New contacts with other artists of various nationalities
will be created, looking for new exhibition spaces and for new interactions
between art, culture and the travelling “Suitcase”.
